It was over. No last gasp, no dying plea, no words to remember.

It simply... stopped.


Spike took the hand he held, gnarled and spotted with age, kissing the palm one last time before gently placing it on the bed.


He spent a few moments arranging limbs...

...as if his lover had simply fallen asleep.


Brushing thin, white hair from his love’s temples, Spike leaned forward, kissing brow...

He straightened the linens.

And made one phone call.




On January 23rd, 2064, Xander Harris breathed his last breath.
